News... Nov 1st It's so hard to keep up with the news updates! Halloween was a blast! To see pictures from Thanksgiving, Halloween, and many other fun events, check out our pictures and videos on the left. We'll try to get a Blog post out of Mom and Dad soon! July 24th Infant Developmental people came today to check on us (because we were preemie). We're doing a lot of stuff that impressed her, like talking a lot, stacking blocks, and like all one year olds, we ate our crayons after a couple of scribbles. Who can resist? They'll be back at 18 months. July 6th We went to the doctor's today. We're doing VERY well! We did NOT like those needles at all! Luckily, Mama had cookies ready to go and we were okay before we even left the office. June 9th We have a new cousin!!! (Mama's note: Holy smokes have I been web-slacking!) May 30th We turned one year old!! We're walking, adding to our vocabulary every day, and well, you'll hopefully check in with Mama's blog for more details! She really does try to keep up!! Feb 5 Kaden cut his first tooth! It was two weeks and two days after Tommy cut his first tooth. Tommy now has two bottom and one eye tooth coming in, and more to follow soon! Jan 24 We went swimming for the first time today! We absolutely loved it and didn't even cry. Well, okay, Tommy cried when Mama took his bathing suit off! Mama and Daddy took pictures with a waterproof camera so when they get developed and scanned we'll post them. Jan 10, 2009 As the new President started his speech, Tommy screamed out in pain as his fist tooth cut through! Talk about a moment to remember! Nov 24th We went to see our family doctor, Dr. John today. Mama said NAKED BABY! and we laughed and babbled while we were being weighed and measured. Then, all of a sudden there were these needles in our legs! OUCH! But we stopped crying before we even left the building. We're pretty tough. Tommy weighed in at 15lbs 14oz and Kaden is 15lbs 7oz. Nov 20th We had an Infant Development Assessment today! We did very well! Mama and Daddy are very proud of us. Read more in their blog! Oct 7th We went to see Dr. Cresswell today, the last appointment with the pediatrician who is in charge of the preemie issues/follow-ups. Tommy weighed in at 11lbs 13oz and Kaden is 11lbs 5oz. Check out the blog for more! Sept 22nd We went to see Dr. John today. Thomas weighs 11lbs 3oz (and is 61cm or 24 inches) and Kaden in 10lbs 11oz (and 59cm or just over 23 inches). They also got their 4 month immunization shots. That went as well as expected. No fevers and no lasting aching, but a lot of sleeping the next day! The doctor said we're doing very well. Sept 10th
Aug 28th Last night Tommy reached out and grabbed Mama's tongue when she stuck it out at him. He liked that game, so he grabbed her tongue over and over. Today Mama put together our high chairs and we ate lunch in them for the first time! Aug 20th Today we had a special BBQ dinner with Grandma Deeme (from the East Cost), Grandma and Nonno, and Nanny and Papa! Grandma didn't like the Gemini link we gave before, so here's a nicer one: Gemini We're going to see if this website is useful for scheduling feeding and naps and such: Trixie Tracker (Add later: it looks cool, but would be WAY too hard to keep up with!) Just for fun, we're starting a Christmas wish list. As we think of cool things we'll add them in. Look for the link on the left! Aug 13th "I was having a rough morning, and Mama was on the duckie blanket with us singing and playing. When Daddy leaned over and made faces, I just had to laugh out loud!" - K Interesting links: We are Gemini, and born the year of the Rat! Aug 9th Congratulations to our cousins in Texas, Ralph and Faith, on the arrival of Domenica on Saturday, August 9th at 1am. "Not wanting to miss the Beijing Olympic Games, Domenica gave one good kick to break Faith's water at 10:30 p.m. Friday night during the opening ceremonies." I hope Ralph and Faith don't mind me posting the link to the pictures of Domenica, taken before leaving hte hospital: http://www.our365.com/NewbornPortraits/BabyDetail.aspx?birthid=936de72d-da07-4003-aca0-87ea0b746048 When they come up from Texas, the kids will be able to play together! Yay! July 22nd We had our first immunization shots today. OUCH! After some initial crying we were okay and fell asleep after lunch. Yesterday we got home from a big night! Mama and Daddy went to Niagara Falls for a night and Thomas stayed at Grandma and Nonno's, and Kaden stayed at Nanny and Papa's. It was REALLY hard for them to leave us, but we were just fine and we're all home and happy now! Mama posted a blog about it... July 14th The Paediatritian was VERY happy with us today! He was also pleasantly surprised to find out that we can focus on and track objects, and that we reconize Mama and Daddy's voices! Dr. Cresswell said Mama and Daddy were doing a great job. Yay! We go back to see him in October. July 10th It's our original due date! Mama can't imagine still
being pregnant and the thought of it makes her hurt. Doctors and nurses
said our development would "explode" around our due date,
but we're still waiting. July 9th The Lady from the Infant Development Program came yesterday. We told her about our medical history and she answered any questions we had. She said we looked great and will be back at six months to check in on our progress. Some people have mentioned that babies might get spoiled when responding to "cries for attention" right away - but we're not old enough to cry for attention yet. An interesting article came to our attention: "The best way to handle crying is to respond promptly to your infant whenever he cries during his first few months. You cannot spoil a young baby by giving him attention; and if you answer his calls for help, he'll cry less overall." Read more... Another source: http://www.babyreference.com/crying.htm July 5th This week, Kaden outgrew his first preemie sleeper! He's just too tall. Tommy has had some congestion in his chest and it sounds like Kaden might have a little bit now, too. Also, there are two new videos from Canada Day to see! Kaden passed his second hearing test (Thomas passed the first time). We think that learning to sign is a great skill and helpful for communicating before talking, so we've borrowed a baby sign kit to get us started. Even if we make "baby versions" of signs, that will develop in time. Mom will blog about that when she gets time. June 29th It always takes a few days stealing time here and there, but Mama gave us a YouTube for our videos (link on left), and she has been working on a post/update for the blog. June 26th "Both Mama and Daddy think I don't like the dark very much. We're going to leave a little light on tonight to see if I make fewer fuss noises and sleep better." -- K June 25th We visited our family doctor, Dr. John, for the first time today. We are both doing great and Kaden can be fed on demand now because his weight is up high enough! We have to go back in a month for two immunization n-e-e-d-l-e-s. We don't know what that spells yet, but I'm sure we'll be fine. Dr. John also said there's too much hype around breastfeeding and that his kids were bottle fed. He's got five kids... no wonder his hair is almost all grey! June 17th Dr. Cresswell was VERY happy with us today! We both gained about half a pound in one week! Kaden still has to be fed every three hours for one more week, and then he'll reach the magical weight where he can be fed on demand as well. The doctor also said that we must get our calm demeanor from our parents. Next week we'll visit our family doctor for the first time and get our immunization schedule. June 15th Happy Father's Day, Daddy! Mommy had to do the shopping for us, but we hope you liked your gift! We had lots of visitors today, and everyone had a great time! June 14th We're famous! Mamma put an announcement in the Record today. Click here to read it, the ad should be online for a week, and Daddy is picking up a copy of the paper to keep a hard copy for our keepsake box. June 11th Mamma set up a blog for her and Daddy to chat more about
us. When they have time. We'll try to make sure they don't. June 10th We went to see Dr. Cresswell again so he could check up on us. Kaden didn't gain as much weight as he wanted, but he's still doing okay. Both of our oxygen levels were awesome, as well as all the other really important stuff. Thomas can eat whenever he wants but Kaden still has to be on an every three hour schedule 'cause he's small. No more monitoring and with a green light from the doc, Mamma and Daddy are much more relaxed and enjoying having us stinkers around! June 8th Gramma, Nonno and Uncle P visited today. Also, Mamma made us a Flickr account and put up lots of pictures of us! Mamma says she's "got her feet back". We don't know what that means, but she sure is happy about it. "I met Kaden on the duckie blanket again today. I think I kind of understand that he's too tired to play so I didn't get as upset as last time." -- T June 7th Momma made this little website for us before Nanny, Papa, Uncle Mike and Aunt Mirinda come over. We like it better than the pregnancy pages, which are still linked on the left. We're going to get our own Flickr account soon, but we'll use Daddy's for now. Plus, a new LJ blog will be a good idea for Momma and Daddy's thoughts, feelings and more details. If they have time of course. June 6th We did so well at the hospital! We were under the lights (a little jaundice) for only a day, needed no oxygen, and we gained weight so soon it was "unheard of" which made Mommy and Daddy very happy. We passed the car seat test, temperature test, weight test... we were such rock stars, they let us go home a whole week early! That night after dinner we laid on the big duckie blanket and hung out together for the first time! Kaden was very tired from eating and looked at his brother a bit wide-eyed but had to sleep. Thomas tried reaching out to touch his brother and wanted to interact. He was so excited he spit up, and then got very upset when his brother turned away from him to sleep. "Sorry brother, but I get tuckered out faster than you 'cause I'm so much smaller!" June 2nd They let Mamma out of the hospital. She and Daddy had been sleeping there all weekend, but they needed some sleep to get better and stronger so they could take care of us better. Mamma was very sad that night. It was the beginning of a whole week of back and forth visiting us and making sure everything was okay. May 30th We were supposed to have a c-section in the morning but it was cancelled! There were too many sick babies born overnight and they had no room or pediatricians available for us. Dr. Potts called everywhere to find a place for us to be born, including Windsor, Hamilton, London, Toronto and even Kingston. At one point we were heading for St. Joe's in Hamilton (where Mamma was born) but that was changed at the last minute, too! When Mamma woke from her nap, they said "We're going here, and we're going now!" You didn't think we were going to show up without a little drama, did you? Kaden was born first, weighing 4 pounds, 2 ounces (1850gms) at 2:53pm. Thomas followed his brother, weighing 6 pounds, 7 ounces (2915gms) at 2:54pm. May 29th We had our last ultrasound. Papa wheeled Mamma's wheelchair across the street and this time it took TWO sonographers to find us and measure everything they needed. Are you surprised? Later in the day, Dr. Potts said we had to be born very soon. Thomas had more fluid in his sac than Kaden, and he was quite a bit bigger so there was no time to waste! May 26th Mom went for her routine visit with Dr. Potts (the OB) and since it had been two weeks since her last U/S, the doctor asked her to go across the street to the hospital for a non-stress test. When she got there, they asked her how long she'd been having contractions! "What contractions?" She thought it was just us kids stretching out! She was fully effaced and dialated 1cm, so she was admitted into the hospital on the spot and Dad had to pack a bag. Surprise! |
